Jihong's photos

(Note from Sandra—I cropped some of these. I liked the light above Renee's head and kept that.)

Pickled eggs

Some people wanted the (very easy) recipe for the pickled eggs. I brought them because they were inexpensive protein that could sit out on a table. I got the recipe from Fran McPherson in 1987. The photos below are of some I made for a medieval campout in 2007. The garlic went stripey, because it was floating, so think about putting the garlic in last if you like that effect. I'm not sure it can be re-created.

small can of beets (not pickled beets, just canned beets)
hard boiled eggs
vinegar
slice of onion
tablespoon of sugar
whole cloves
(and I add cloves of garlic, too, and more onion than one slice ;-)

Get the smallest eggs you can find so more fit in the jar, if you're taking them camping, and if you want them to be snack-sized.

(That's me waving at my reflection in the jar.)

Here's a smaller jar of pickled eggs Holly made last summer. The photo links to the Just Add Light post in which it appeared.

Other photos?

Someone had great photos of the younger kids playing with the balloons with super balls in them. I can't find them.

Are there any groups of photos that were on facebook that I can lift and bring here, or are there blog posts you're willing to let me link here?

I still haven't put my own photos up, but I will, soon, I hope.

I hope you're all rested, recovered, well from any dehydration, cold or flu you suffered. Keith got sick a few days afterwards. I'm still tired, but not yet sick.

IT WAS FUN!!!!!

Rose's presentation on TV shows

These photos were taken by Catherine Forest during Rose's cool session on what we had learned from TV programs.

This one was afterwards, but shows one of the walls.
In this photo:  Holly, Kirby, Roxana, Marty, Roya, Rose.

Catherine Forest's photos

Catherine has said that if anyone who appears in these photos wants a larger file of that photo for printing or saving, to let her know. The photos with her captions and comments are on her blog here: http://catherine-et-les-fees.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-always-learning-live-all.html

The cake

Locals know ABC Cake Shop in Albuquerque. I asked them to make it fairly plain and for it to say "Always Learning." It was orange cake with lemon filling. There was still about 1/4 of it left the next day, and it took all day to be gone. I'm glad to have shared that with all of you!

Thanks, Shelby, for taking a photo of it before we chopped it up and ate it!
